How to get to Castiglione della Pescaia and where to park
Castiglione della Pescaia is one of the most popular spots on the Tuscan coast, in the province of Grosseto. Here's how to reach it easily and how to handle parking in high season, when finding a spot near the sea isn't easy.
By car
From both north and south you arrive along the SS1 Aurelia, exiting towards Grosseto and then following signs for Castiglione della Pescaia (about 20 minutes from the city). From the motorway you continue on the Aurelia to the nearest exit. In summer the centre and the Via Roma seafront are largely traffic-limited.
By train
The nearest station is Grosseto, on the Rome–Pisa–Genoa line. Buses connect Grosseto to Castiglione della Pescaia; alternatively you can continue by taxi or rental car.
Where to park in summer
In the summer months the spaces near the sea are almost all paid (blue lines) and fill up early, especially at weekends and around mid-August. On the edge of the centre there are larger parking areas, from which you reach the seafront on foot. It's best to arrive early in the morning or to have a reserved space.
The benefit of a private parking space
Our sea-view apartment includes a private parking space in the gated courtyard: leave the car and reach the beach and centre on foot, with no parking worries for the whole holiday.
